Dallas

There’s really something about cities that I love. I’ve lived in Chicago and San Diego, spent some time in New York and Denver. Dallas was sweeter to me than I’d thought. I’m always impressed and reasonably so by the Chicago skyline but there was something I found in Dallas that could only be described in photos that I look back on and think - I really liked living there.

Most if not all these photos were just on the go and whenever I felt like I wanted to capture something I saw that made me feel a certain way about the city - a familiarity or an image that was just too Dallas to not take.

I took all these photos on random film cameras (because I would buy one, and then they’d break or something). This was when I was just starting to take film photos casually and wasn’t investing a ton into it. I still love these photos and how they turned out. Being intentional about what you see changes the way you see things. Having a camera on hand, makes me more insightful about what I’m looking at and why it matters. In a weird way, it’s like proof that I lived somewhere, and I was aware enough to capture the life around me - the places I drove past every day, people I knew, places I frequented. Reminds me to live life with my head up. Don’t miss it - the beauty in the mundane.
